At times, you may run into an issue that will require you to re-register an agent. Below are the steps for a Windows device.
Step 1: Log into CipherTrust Manager
Begin by accessing your CipherTrust Manager. Ensure you have the necessary credentials to log in.
Step 2: Locate the Client
Once logged in, navigate through the interface to find the specific client you need to re-register. This will be located under a clients.
Step 3: Disable Guardpoints
If the client has any active guardpoints, you will need to disable all of them before proceeding. This ensures there are no conflicts or data protection issues during the re-registration process.

Step 4: Stop I/O Operations

Step 5: Unenroll the Agent
Go to the client’s page on the CM, and find the options menu (often represented by three dots or a similar icon) next to the client listing. Select the option to “Unenroll the agent.”

Step 6: Manage Agent Settings on the Server
Right-click the Agent Tray Icon: On the server where the agent is installed, right-click the tray icon for the agent software.
Select “Register Host”: This option will direct you to the settings specific to file system management.

Step 7: Agent Configuration
Proceed through the setup wizard by clicking “Next.”
Hostname: Leave the hostname as the default unless it needs to be changed.
Hardware Association: Uncheck “Enable hardware association.”
Enable LDT Feature: Make sure to check “Enable LDT Feature (FS agent only).”
Step 8: Registration Token
Enter Registration Token: In the provided field, paste the registration token that you have been given.
Continue: Click “Next” and then acknowledge any warnings by clicking “OK.”
Step 9: Register the Agent
Complete the Setup: Click on “Register agent” to finalize the re-registration process.
Step 10: Re-enable Guardpoints
Once the client is confirmed as re-registered in the CM, go ahead and re-enable the guardpoints to resume normal protection and monitoring.
By following these steps, you will successfully re-register a Windows agent in the CipherTrust Manager, ensuring it remains secure and functional within your network.
